Notes | Prior to 1975 the property had played a variety of roles since it was built, including a country club, working men's club and transport cafe. In 1978 after three years of renovation by Frank Lennon the derelict 19th century house called Deanhurst House was opened as the Four in one pub. It had four floors offering a ground floor main bar lounge with a split level floor, 35 seater restaurant, varied entertainment and overnight accommodation. Incorporated into the main entrance leading to the lounge were two pieces of coloured glass rescued from the skylight of the original building. When the property was aquired by Mr Lennon part of the roof was missing, there were no doors and many windows were smashed. Before work could start about 10,000 gallons of water had to be pumped out and 200 metres of earth were removed. In the late 1980s/ early 1990s the property was renamed the Gildersome Lodge and some years after became known as Hadley's Hotel. The property was demolished in the late 1990s/early 2000s. Residential accomodation was build on the site which is now known as Hadley Court. |
