Gildersome Lodge

  Name Gildersome Lodge Address Gelderd Road, Gildersome Built 1877 Closed Yes Demolished Yes Notes Prior to 1975 the property had played a variety of roles since it was built, including a country club, working men's club and transport cafe. In 1978 after three years of renovation by Frank Lennon the derelict 19th century house called Deanhurst House was opened as the Four in one pub. It had four floors offering a ground floor main bar lounge with a split level floor, 35 seater restaurant, varied entertainment and overnight accommodation. Incorporated into the main entrance leading to the lounge were two pieces of coloured glass rescued from the skylight of the original building. When the property was aquired by Mr Lennon part of the roof was missing, there were no doors and many windows were smashed. Before work could start about 10,000 gallons of water had to be pumped out and 200 metres of earth were removed. In the late 1980s/ early 1990s the property was renamed the Gildersome...
